About
Certified Trichologist (USTI). CBT Therapist. PhD Candidate in Naturopathy and Healing Nutrition.
Ifepo Bandy-Toyo has spent fifteen years inside the science of textured hair — from learning all about protective styling in a boarding school where contracted stylists were causing damage to the students hair, to formally qualifying in trichology, to building a nutrition and scalp health practice from the ground up.
She has studied the literature. She has treated the conditions. She has experienced the loss herself — twice — and rebuilt her hair both times.
What she found along the way is that the knowledge exists. It just was never assembled, translated, and delivered specifically for 3A to 4C women.
Adori is the platform that changes that.
Adori was not built in a boardroom. It was built out of desperation. While completing her Masters degree, Ifepo began losing her hair at a rate that alarmed her. What followed was a period of intense personal research into hair science — research that led her to discover telogen effluvium, a stress-induced hair loss condition she had never heard of, and to uncover that critically low iron levels had been silently contributing to her loss for longer than she knew. Armed with that knowledge, she began restoring her own hair. And succeeded.
But the curiosity did not stop there. Growing up in Lagos, she noticed something. The women in her family, in her community, around her — women with kinky and coily hair — rarely grew their hair past a certain length. Women of other hair types did not seem to share this ceiling. She became determined to understand why. Could 4C hair achieve those lengths if approached correctly? She decided to find out.
She became intensely intentional about her hair care, studying ingredients, growth protocols, scalp health, and nutrition. Her hair responded. It grew. And people started to notice.
When women around her began asking what she was doing, she shared her routines and treatments. The results were striking — until they weren't. Women with different hair types, different scalp conditions, and different internal health histories did not get the same results from the same protocol. The same routine that grew her hair was doing nothing for someone else, or worse, causing harm.
That was the moment Ifepo understood that hair cannot be treated as a uniform experience. It required a different framework entirely. She enrolled to study trichology, the clinical science of hair and scalp health, and qualified as a certified trichologist through the United States Trichology Institute (USTI). She then deepened her knowledge further by pursuing a PhD candidacy in Naturopathy and Healing Nutrition, adding the ability to understand and address hair loss rooted in nutritional deficiency, hormonal disruption, and systemic health. She also trained as a CBT therapist and certified corporate wellness coach, giving her a holistic understanding of the psychological and physiological factors that affect hair health, particularly in women navigating stress, burnout, and major life transitions. Over nine years of practice and research, she built a body of knowledge about textured hair science that exists almost nowhere in clinical literature written specifically for 3A to 4C hair types.
Consulting one-to-one works. But it does not scale. Ifepo conducted scalp assessments and consultations actively, helping clients identify what was really happening with their hair and building bespoke care plans. The results were consistently transformative. But there was a ceiling. She could only reach so many people at once. And the communities that needed this knowledge most — women across Lagos, across Africa, across the diaspora — were largely without access to qualified trichological care tailored to their textured hair type.
Ifepo made a decision. She retired from active trichology practice to do something with greater reach. Nine years of hair science, trichological methodology, and nutritional knowledge, channelled into a platform that could serve thousands of women simultaneously, not one at a time.
Adori is that platform. It delivers the same clinical rigour as a one-to-one trichological consultation, at a fraction of the cost, to any woman with a 3A to 4C hair type, anywhere in the world, without needing to book an appointment, afford a consultation, or live near a specialist.
Ifepo has experienced significant hair thinning and breakage twice — and restored her hair both times. Beyond her own journey, she has worked with women across 3A to 4C hair types, treating varied scalp conditions and hair loss presentations. That combined experience — personal and practical — is the foundation this platform is built on.
Adori is not a hair product company. It is not a beauty platform. It is a clinical diagnostic tool built by someone who has lived the question it is trying to answer, spent nine years studying the science behind it, and chose to step back from individual practice to make that knowledge available to every woman who has ever been failed by advice that was never written for her hair.
Your hair was never the problem. You just never had the right answers. Adori exists to provide them.
